What is conspicuous and unusual in this new series of pictures is the principle of reflection. It is a feature and, at the same time, it raises awareness. Raising awareness of the past, of life and of happiness. In all the pictures in the “Imago 2007” series, the concept of reflection is used consistently: here, the colour is applied to a canvas, with the aura of the artwork being defined at this point. Then, a second canvas is pressed onto the first. This is how the reflected image is produced. Consequently, at least two sides are created – like the two wings of a butterfly. Jakobs explains: “many people think that the life of a butterfly lasts only for a short time by comparison with its long life as a hungry caterpillar. However, the exact opposite is true for many butterflies: after a short although intensive phase as a caterpillar, there is a long life as a butterfly after pupation. It should be exactly the same for people: setting goals and believing in them, working on the realisation of these dreams, then being able to enjoy the result. This is what my art tries to convey.”

The butterfly also has multiple symbolic power. In superstition, for example, it was even understood as the embodiment of witches. Is it possible that this is the secret magical and mythical element distinguishing Imago 2007?  The ancient Greek word for butterfly was ψυχή (papilion) – psyche – which means breeze, soul. Indeed: The soul of the Imago 2007 series of pictures is hidden nowhere other than in its aura; the entire composition, however, remains enigmatic, mystical and mysterious.
